Massachusetts education officials announce Holyoke Public Schools turnaround plan
October 1, 2015

Mass Live – “An extended school day, more individualized education plans and bringing in outside partners. These are some of the steps education officials will take to turnaround Holyoke Public Schools.

Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education Mitchell Chester will formally announce the plan during a press conference held at Holyoke High School at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

“At the core of this plan is the firm belief that all Holyoke students deserve a world-class education,” the plan’s executive summary states. “For too long, many Holyoke students have not received a high-quality education or were allowed to fail. With this plan, we will raise the bar, improve the instruction and services we offer, and provide students with the skills and tools they need to be successful in school now, and later in college and their careers.”
